Conformation
Rawcky has a nice square/proportional build with a deep, beautiful red coat, and level back line. At his age, his chest is looking to be well balanced in depth and width. He has a good short leg length similar to his sire (Seeker). His head shape is a good mix between his dam and sire (shown below) that we think will develop into a more red version of Seeker’s head. Read more on the Dexter Breed guidelines.

Temperament
Rawcky is a gentle and calm bull calf. He is slowly getting used to us approaching him and will no doubt learn to enjoy the attention from his new owner who can spend dedicated time with him. He isn’t overly skittish and he will stay near us when we are hanging out with the herd in the pasture. He is becoming more and more curious and confident like his sister Reese. Rawcky’s demeanor and genetics make him an excellent candidate for a herd bull to produced polled, red, A2A2 offspring.

Our Rotational Program

We purchased our Dexters specifically for their size, demeanor, and efficiency on grass. We practice frequent rotational grazing which keeps our herd on clean fresh grass at all times, so we have no need for dewormers or vaccines. In this program, our Dexters helping us improve our pasture soils by intense grazing activity followed by long periods of rest. We do not use any chemicals (fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, etc…) in our pastures whatsoever. Our Dexter herd stomps the weeds down and provides our pasture with some of the best fertilizer you can find.

Our Dexters are 100% pasture grass fed. In the winter months we supplement with organic alfalfa pellets as needed. Our Dexters have remained very healthy and strong as part of this program.

Demeanor of our herd

All of our Dexters are very sweet and gentle, they love to be scratched, and will eat out of your hand. We have even tried to milk our cows a little without a halter and they stood still for us without a fuss. We spend time with our herd and work with new timid ones to help build their trust so all of our Dexters are docile, approachable, and love attention.
