Description and Temperament
Little Girl is one of our most social cows and is usually the first to greet you, looking for an alfalfa snack. Little Girl is a proven cow and has produced many calves over the years. Her most recent being a heifer calf, Little Debbe. Little Girl is a very good mother and has produced a calf for us each year we have owned her. She is on the shorter side of Dexter cows, which we prefer. Little Girl has a good set of utters that always produce ample food for her calves. Little Girl would make a good candidate for a family milk cow.

Our Rotational Program

We purchased our Dexters specifically for their size, demeanor, and efficiency on grass. We practice frequent rotational grazing which keeps our herd on clean fresh grass at all times, so we have no need for dewormers or vaccines. In this program, our Dexters are helping us improve our pasture soils by intense grazing activity followed by long periods of rest. We do not use any chemicals (fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, etc…) in our pastures whatsoever. Our Dexter herd stomps the weeds down and provides our pasture with some of the best fertilizer you can find.

Our Dexters are 100% pasture grass fed. In the winter months we supplement with organic alfalfa pellets as needed. Our Dexters have remained very healthy and strong as part of this program.

Demeanor of our herd

All of our Dexters are very sweet and gentle, they love to be scratched, and will eat out of your hand. We have even tried to milk our cows a little without a halter and they stood still for us without a fuss. We spend time with our herd and work with new timid ones to help build their trust so all of our Dexters are docile, approachable, and love attention.
