Conformation
Autumn is a well-balanced cow from front to back with well-attached, uniform, and plumb udders. Autumn’s horns conform well with a front/upward position. Her chest is balanced in depth and width. Her back is straight and level. She was an excellent mother to Rawcky; very attentive and nurturing and continued to produce plenty of milk until weaning at 6 months. In our opinion, Autumn shows excellent conformation of the Dexter breed. Read more on the Dexter Breed guidelines.

Temperament
Autumn is a gentle, sweet, and proven cow. She is the mother of Rawcky, one of our 2022 dexter bull calves we have for sale. She, like the rest of our herd, is very easy to manage and move. She’s highly motivated by a handful of alfalfa pellets. She will come up to you to say “hi” (smell your hand), ask for treats, and likes to have her shoulders scratched. Our goals for our herd doesn’t include horned Dexters, so sadly we must let Autumn go on to her next pasture. We certainly will miss her. She has been a wonderful cow to have on our ranch and we know she will make a great cow for your ranch or homestead.

Our Rotational Program

We purchased our Dexters specifically for their size, demeanor, and efficiency on grass. We practice frequent rotational grazing which keeps our herd on clean fresh grass at all times, so we have no need for dewormers or vaccines. In this program, our Dexters are helping us improve our pasture soils by intense grazing activity followed by long periods of rest. We do not use any chemicals (fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, etc…) in our pastures whatsoever. Our Dexter herd stomps the weeds down and provides our pasture with some of the best fertilizer you can find.

Our Dexters are 100% pasture grass fed. In the winter months we supplement with organic alfalfa pellets as needed. Our Dexters have remained very healthy and strong as part of this program.

Demeanor of our herd

All of our Dexters are very sweet and gentle, they love to be scratched, and will eat out of your hand. We have even tried to milk our cows a little without a halter and they stood still for us without a fuss. We spend time with our herd and work with new timid ones to help build their trust so all of our Dexters are docile, approachable, and love attention.
